Elon Musk’s xAI has begun rolling out Grok Imagine, a text-to-video tool embedded inside the X app. Users can now request access via the app, with premium subscribers getting early entry.
The Details:
Grok Imagine turns text prompts into AI-generated videos up to six minutes long
Also supports image-to-video generation with audio and real-time editing tools
Access path: Update X app → Settings → Grok → Imagine → Request Access
SuperGrok ($30/month) users get priority access, with full rollout expected by October
A separate Grok app also supports this feature alongside the X integration
Why it matters:
Grok Imagine positions X as a platform for next-gen content creation. While early users are experimenting with its powerful generative tools, controversies over moderation and misuse highlight the urgent need for safety frameworks in open AI systems.
Google has unveiled a powerful new feature called Deep Think for Gemini Ultra subscribers. It brings advanced reasoning capabilities to everyday users, based on the same model that won gold at the International Mathematical Olympiad.
The Details:
Deep Think enables extended reasoning by exploring multiple solutions in parallel
Based on Google’s IMO-winning model, adapted for faster consumer use
Delivers bronze-level IMO performance in internal tests, optimized for speed
Best suited for tasks like coding, research, and complex decision-making
Available to Ultra users with limited prompts per day; API access coming soon
Why it matters:
This release puts math-grade logic and planning tools into the hands of creators, developers, and researchers. Google’s move signals a broader shift toward commercializing academic-grade AI for high-value use cases.

Apple is quietly developing an AI “answer engine” to rival Google, reports Bloomberg. A new internal team is crafting tech to answer web queries, potentially for Siri, Safari, or a standalone app. This comes as Apple rethinks its search deals post-antitrust ruling.
OpenAI closed an oversubscribed $8.3B round led by Dragoneer, with backers like Blackstone and TPG. With 800M weekly users and $1B in monthly revenue, it’s scaling infra fast despite ongoing cash burn—aiming for $20B in revenue by end of 2025.
Meta is piloting “AI-enabled interviews,” letting some candidates use coding AI tools during assessments. The goal? Hire engineers who excel with AI-assisted workflows—aligning with how real-world developers now work and reflecting the industry’s shift to AI-first software building.
Andrew Tulloch rejected a $1.5B Meta offer to stay at Thinking Machines Lab, where he and 50 teammates are building a $12B AI startup with Mira Murati. Despite Meta’s aggressive poaching, no TML employees left—highlighting how top AI talent now favors equity over Big Tech salaries.
Anthropic terminated OpenAI’s access to Claude after learning it was used to benchmark GPT-5—violating terms banning use for competing services. OpenAI called it “industry standard,” but Anthropic disagreed. Benchmarking for safety still allowed. Rivalry among top AI labs is heating up.
