LATEST AI NEWS
OPENAI
OpenAI shook up the AI world with a wave of launches that turn ChatGPT from a chatbot into a full-blown platform. From apps to agents to video generation, the company dropped its biggest product wave yet.
The Details:
Apps in ChatGPT – Spotify, Canva, Zillow, Coursera, and more now run natively inside ChatGPT; devs can build apps with the new Apps SDK
AgentKit – Toolkit for developers to build and deploy autonomous AI agents directly into ChatGPT workflows
Sora 2 – Next-gen video model for realistic text-to-video generation, now powering OpenAI’s media push
AMD Partnership – OpenAI to deploy 6 gigawatts of AMD GPU compute from 2026, boosting infrastructure beyond current limits
Upgraded Models – GPT-5 Pro and specialized coding/agentic variants released, bringing stronger enterprise and developer capabilities
Why it matters:
This marks OpenAI’s biggest step toward building an AI ecosystem. By blending apps, agents, and media into ChatGPT, OpenAI is positioning itself not just as a chatbot provider — but as the operating system for the AI age.
Google is taking Opal, its AI vibe-coding app, global. After launching in the U.S. earlier this year, Opal is now available in Canada, India, Japan, South Korea, Vietnam, Indonesia, Brazil, Singapore, Colombia, El Salvador, Costa Rica, Panamá, Honduras, Argentina, and Pakistan.
The Details:
Opal lets users build mini web apps from simple text prompts, with the option to edit workflows visually
Apps can be published and shared via link, enabling anyone with a Google account to test them
New debugging system keeps the tool no-code but lets users run steps one by one and fix errors contextually
Performance improvements cut app creation time from ~5 seconds to near-instant; workflows can now run steps in parallel
Positioned against Canva, Figma, and Replit as part of the no-code app prototyping wave
Why it matters:
By lowering the barrier to app creation, Opal could spark a new wave of creativity across emerging markets. Google isn’t just competing with rivals—it’s betting that AI-driven, no-code tooling will become a mainstream way to prototype and share software ideas worldwide.
DELOITTE
Deloitte Australia is refunding part of a $440,000 contract after an AI-assisted audit report was found to contain fabricated references and false quotes—highlighting major risks when AI is used without strong oversight.
The Details:
The contract was with Australia’s Department of Employment and Workplace Relations (DEWR) for an audit of a welfare compliance IT system
An academic, Chris Rudge, uncovered invented academic papers and a quote falsely attributed to a federal court case
Deloitte revised the report to remove fake citations, added disclosure of using Azure OpenAI GPT-4o, and corrected dozens of footnotes
Deloitte says it will refund the final payment of the contract, while maintaining that core findings and recommendations remain valid
The error has raised scrutiny of how consultancies use generative AI in high-stakes government and financial work
Why it matters:
This incident shows that generative AI can dangerously introduce falsehoods even in expert domains. When firms deploy AI in high-risk settings like audits or legal reports, human validation, strict transparency, and industry-wide guardrails become essential.
