China has launched 12 satellites to kick off a 2,800-satellite network designed to operate as a space-based AI supercomputer. Built by ADA Space and its partners, this initiative aims to turn space into a real-time AI computing hub
The Details:
Each satellite contains an 8B-parameter AI model and delivers 744 tera operations per second (TOPS), totaling 5 POPS across the 12 launched units.
Satellites use laser links for 100 Gbps communication and share 30 TB of onboard storage.
The network is part of China’s “Three-Body Computing Constellation” under ADA Space’s Star Compute program.
The system enables edge processing in space, including 3D mapping, digital twin creation, emergency response, gaming, and tourism applications.
Scientific instruments onboard include an X-ray polarization detector for observing gamma-ray bursts and other cosmic events.
Why it matters:
Traditional satellites send raw data back to Earth for analysis, often limited by bandwidth and ground access. China’s orbital AI network flips that model, enabling real-time decision-making in space. It could set the standard for energy-efficient, high-speed computing systems beyond Earth, with potential defense, research, and industrial applications.
OPENAI

OpenAI has introduced Codex, its most advanced AI coding agent to date, aimed at helping developers write, test, and debug code with minimal effort. Powered by a tuned version of the o3 model, Codex is now rolling out to ChatGPT Pro, Team, and Enterprise users.
The Details:
Codex is based on codex-1, a tuned version of the o3 reasoning model optimized for engineering tasks like bug fixing, code generation, and documentation.
It runs in a sandboxed virtual computer, connects to GitHub, and can complete multiple tasks simultaneously without interfering with the user’s system.
Codex will be rate-limited over time, with the option to purchase additional usage credits. Support for ChatGPT Plus and Edu accounts is coming soon.
Users assign tasks using a chat-style sidebar interface. Codex then writes code, runs tests, and returns clean output within 1–30 minutes.
OpenAI has also upgraded its open-source CLI tool with an o4-mini model optimized for coding, priced at $1.50 per million input tokens and $6 per million output tokens via API.
Why it matters:
Codex represents OpenAI’s next step toward agentic AI. Designed to be a “virtual teammate,” it helps engineers automate repetitive coding tasks and focus on bigger problems. With robust safety controls and growing capabilities, Codex aims to make AI coding accessible, reliable, and scalable for teams of all sizes.

Google has officially launched its AI-powered research assistant NotebookLM for mobile users, expanding access beyond the desktop for the first time since its 2023 debut.
The Details:
NotebookLM is now available on Android and iOS, letting users create, manage, and query notebooks directly from their mobile devices.
Users can add content from websites, PDFs, and YouTube videos by tapping the share icon and choosing NotebookLM as the destination.
The app introduces Audio Overviews, AI-generated podcast-style summaries of uploaded content, with offline support and background playback.
Smart summaries and document Q&A continue to be core features, helping users break down complex topics into digestible insights.
The app supports light and dark modes based on your device settings, and syncs notebooks seamlessly across devices.
Why it matters:
NotebookLM’s mobile rollout brings Google’s AI research tools closer to where users actually work, on the move. With features like audio summaries and instant content capture, it’s not just another note-taking app, but a step toward an always-on research companion that fits into your daily workflow. Expect more updates during I/O.
