OPENAI
OpenAI has launched a powerful AI agent inside ChatGPT, giving it the ability to complete complex, multi-step tasks like ordering outfits or conducting in-depth research. The new capability is now available to Pro, Plus, and Team subscribers.
The Details:
OpenAI’s agent blends two earlier features: Operator (for web interaction) and Deep Research (for task completion)
Users can now enable the agent to complete real-world tasks like planning events or researching topics end-to-end
The agent uses a virtual computer with integrated tools that can browse the web and interact with websites
Users can connect services like Gmail and GitHub, allowing ChatGPT to retrieve personal or work data as needed
The launch aligns with broader industry trends, as companies like Microsoft, Salesforce, and Oracle double down on agents to enhance efficiency
Why it matters:
This update marks a major leap forward for ChatGPT, turning it from a conversational tool into an active problem-solver. By combining internet access, app integration, and reasoning, OpenAI is closing the gap between chatbots and true digital assistants, and challenging rivals like Anthropic and Google to keep up.
AMAZON

At its New York Summit, Amazon Web Services unveiled AgentCore, a modular platform designed to help companies build, deploy, and scale AI agents across industries. With full-stack support and tight security, AgentCore positions AWS as a serious player in the agent development race.
The Details:
AgentCore offers seven core modules: Runtime, Memory, Identity, Observability, Gateway, Browser, and Code Interpreter
It supports open-source tools like CrewAI, LangChain, LlamaIndex, and Google’s A2A protocol, ensuring wide compatibility
The Gateway converts APIs and Lambda functions into agent-ready tools using the Model Context Protocol (MCP)
Early adopters include Box (for content workflows), Itaú Unibanco (for personalized banking), and Innovaccer (for healthcare tools)
Preview access is live in selected AWS regions and will be free until September 16, with pay-as-you-go pricing starting afterward
Why it matters:
AgentCore gives AWS a major foothold in the fast-growing agent economy. As OpenAI, Google, and startups like Devin race to build autonomous software agents, AWS is betting on enterprise-grade infrastructure to win. Its modular pricing and secure design make it especially attractive to large companies with complex use cases.

AI & TECH NEWS
OpenAI released a free demo on Hugging Face showing how its Agents SDK powers triage-based customer support bots. It includes routing logic, Python code, a web UI, and built-in safety guardrails, perfect for teams looking to build fast, reliable AI support.
Anthropic added remote MCP server support to Claude Code, letting devs connect tools like Sentry and Linear directly, no local setup needed. Claude now pulls and acts on live context from online sources, streamlining tasks and boosting productivity in a single terminal.
CEO Andy Jassy said Amazon’s corporate workforce will shrink over the next few years as generative AI automates more roles. The company has already cut 27,000 jobs since 2022. Jassy urged teams to adopt AI to do more with less, especially in inventory and warehouse ops.
Gemini’s app now lets users upload video files and ask questions about their content. Rolling out on select Android and iOS devices, this feature builds on existing image and document support, marking a major step in bringing richer media understanding into everyday AI use.
