LATEST AI NEWS
OPENAI
OpenAI has launched a new company focused on helping enterprises deploy AI systems at scale, expanding beyond models into full implementation services.
The Details:
The new venture, called the OpenAI Deployment Company, raised more than $4 billion in funding
Backers include TPG, Bain Capital, Brookfield, Advent, and SoftBank
The Deployment Company is reportedly valued at around $10 billion before the new funding
Plans include acquiring AI consulting firms and hiring large teams of engineers and implementation specialists
Focus areas include healthcare, finance, enterprise operations, and workflow automation
Goal is to help companies move from small AI experiments to full production deployment across organizations
Why it matters:
The next phase of AI is deployment, not demos. OpenAI is expanding beyond models and APIs into the enterprise implementation business, where the real long-term revenue opportunity may exist.
Google is rolling out Google Health Coach, an AI-powered fitness and wellness assistant built into the newly rebranded Google Health app.
The Details:
Fitbit app is being renamed to Google Health, becoming the center of Google’s fitness ecosystem
New Google Health Coach uses Gemini AI to provide personalized fitness, sleep, nutrition, and wellness guidance
Users can share goals, routines, injuries, equipment access, and lifestyle details during onboarding for customized coaching
Coach combines data from fitness tracking, sleep, nutrition, cycle tracking, environment, and medical records if connected
Users can log workouts, meals, and health data through voice, photos, or uploaded files
Included with Google Health Premium at $9.99/month or $99/year and bundled free with Google AI Pro and Ultra
Launches May 19 for select Fitbit and Pixel Watch users, with broader device support planned later
Google says health data remains separate from advertising systems and will not be used for ads
Why it matters:
Google is trying to turn health tracking into a continuous AI-guided experience. Instead of just showing charts and metrics, the company wants AI to actively coach users through fitness, recovery, sleep, and long-term wellness decisions.
THINKING MACHINES LAB
Thinking Machines Lab, the startup founded by former OpenAI CTO Mira Murati, has unveiled a new type of AI system designed for real-time, human-like interaction.
The Details:
OpenAI plans to build an “intern-level” AI research assistant by 2026, with a full “AI researcher” by 2028
The system will be able to design experiments, test hypotheses, and generate original insights
CEO Sam Altman says this is a step toward AGI, not a sudden breakthrough moment
Chief scientist Jakub Pachocki described the goal as delivering complete research projects without human guidance
Technical focus areas include extending thinking time and scaling compute for long-horizon tasks
Why it matters:
Most AI today still feels like texting. These interaction models aim to make AI feel conversational, reactive, and socially aware in real time, which could fundamentally change how humans interact with machines.
AI TUTORIAL
Stop wrestling with complex SQL queries and static spreadsheets. Livedocs is a powerful "Data Agent" that transforms raw data into explorable dashboards and interactive apps just by asking questions in plain English.
Steps to Follow:
Open Livedocs and connect your data source (upload a CSV, paste a Google Drive link, or sync your database).
Type a question in the Agent Chat like "Analyze our sales growth by region for the last quarter."
Watch as the AI instantly writes the code, cleans the data, and generates professional charts and metrics.
Customize your dashboard by adding Interactive Widgets like sliders and dropdowns to filter data in real-time.
Click Deploy to turn your analysis into a clean, shareable data app that your team can use without seeing any code.
✨ From complex datasets to boardroom-ready insights, Livedocs eliminates the manual "grunt work" of data science so you can get answers 10x faster.

OpenAI’s AI chip project with Broadcom reportedly stalled after Broadcom requested Microsoft commit to buying 40% of the first “Jalapeno” chips. The custom hardware is meant to reduce OpenAI’s inference costs, but without Microsoft’s backing, the company may need new partners or financing terms.
Meta is reportedly developing an AI assistant called Hatch that can perform tasks autonomously instead of simply answering questions. The company is also preparing AI-powered Instagram shopping tools to help users discover and purchase products conversationally before year-end.
Alibaba plans to connect Qwen AI directly with Taobao and Tmall, enabling users to browse and purchase products through conversation. The system will support over 4 billion listings alongside delivery tracking, virtual try-ons, after-sales help, and price monitoring.
Anthropic is reportedly considering raising up to $50 billion at a valuation approaching $1 trillion. Investors are attracted by rapid revenue growth, though the capital is also needed to fund the enormous compute and infrastructure costs of frontier AI.
Perplexity launched its new Mac app featuring “Personal Computer,” enabling AI agents to interact with local files, Mac apps, and the web. The system shifts AI workflows from cloud-only experiences toward persistent desktop automation running directly on users’ devices.
OpenAI released a Chrome extension for Codex that automates repetitive browser tasks across tabs and websites. The tool combines browser controls, plugins, and coding capabilities to handle workflows involving dashboards, research, and logged-in web services.
Cloudflare is laying off around 1,100 employees despite record revenue growth, saying AI-driven productivity gains reduced the need for many support roles. The company claims AI tools have dramatically accelerated software development and operational efficiency.
