LATEST AI NEWS
OPENAI
OpenAI just announced a bold new play: a full-blown AI-powered hiring platform. Set to launch in mid-2026, it’s designed to connect businesses and talent — and directly challenge LinkedIn, which is owned by its largest backer, Microsoft.
The Details:
The OpenAI Jobs Platform will use AI to match job seekers with employer needs
Special access tracks are planned for small businesses and local governments
The company will offer AI fluency certifications via OpenAI Academy starting in late 2025
Partnering with Walmart, OpenAI aims to certify 10M Americans by 2030 as part of a White House-backed literacy initiative.
CEO Fidji Simo says this is part of a broader Apps division, which may also include a browser and social network
Why it matters:
This marks OpenAI’s most aggressive push into consumer tools yet — and it’s targeting one of Microsoft’s crown jewels. With AI disrupting the job market, OpenAI wants to control not just the tech, but the entire hiring ecosystem.
APERTUS
Switzerland just entered the AI race with Apertus — an open-source language model released as a transparent alternative to closed systems like ChatGPT or Claude. It’s now live on HuggingFace, complete with training data, weights, and development logs.
The Details:
Apertus comes in 8B and 70B parameter versions, comparable to Meta’s Llama 3
Trained on 1,800+ languages, aiming for global inclusivity
Built under EU copyright and voluntary AI code of practice rules
Training data restricted to public sources — no stealth crawling
Full release includes source code, weights, data, and dev logs on HuggingFace
Why it matters:
While US labs race ahead with scale, Switzerland is betting on trust, transparency, and compliance. Apertus gives the global AI community a legally clean, auditable foundation to build on — especially valuable for Europe-aligned developers.
📍 Real-world ads with digital-level targeting? Yes, it’s real.
Modernize your marketing with AdQuick
AdQuick unlocks the benefits of Out Of Home (OOH) advertising in a way no one else has. Approaching the problem with eyes to performance, created for marketers with the engineering excellence you’ve come to expect for the internet.
Marketers agree OOH is one of the best ways for building brand awareness, reaching new customers, and reinforcing your brand message. It’s just been difficult to scale. But with AdQuick, you can easily plan, deploy and measure campaigns just as easily as digital ads, making them a no-brainer to add to your team’s toolbox.
AI & TECH NEWS
Apple is developing “World Knowledge Answers,” an AI-powered search tool for Siri, Safari, and Spotlight. The move signals a major AI push—aimed at challenging OpenAI and Perplexity with smarter, on-device search experiences.
China’s DeepSeek will launch an AI agent by late 2025 that handles complex tasks from minimal prompts and learns from past actions—aiming to rival OpenAI and lead the next global wave of AI tools.
Anthropic will no longer offer Claude to firms majority-owned by China, or any users in Russia, Iran, or North Korea. The move targets national security risks and sets a precedent for restricting AI access to authoritarian regimes.
OpenAI is letting employees cash out $10.3B worth of shares at a $500B valuation—up from $6B. Backed by SoftBank and T. Rowe Price, the deal mirrors Stripe and SpaceX’s moves, showing strong investor faith without rushing to IPO.
Snapchat just dropped “Imagine Lens,” its first open-prompt AI image generator. Available to Snapchat+ Platinum and Lens+ users, it lets you create, edit, and share Snaps with custom or preloaded prompts—like “make me skydive” or “turn me into a comic.”
