MICROSOFT & GROK AI

Microsoft is reportedly preparing to host Elon Musk’s Grok model on Azure AI Foundry, signaling a bold step in its AI infrastructure strategy and potentially straining ties with OpenAI.
The Details:
Microsoft engineers have been instructed to prep Azure to host Grok, xAI’s flagship model, for developers and internal Microsoft teams.
If approved, Grok will be available via Azure AI Foundry, Microsoft’s platform for building AI apps with prebuilt models.
CEO Satya Nadella is personally driving the effort, aiming to make Azure the core infrastructure for emerging AI models.
This deal would not include training Grok’s future models, only hosting for inference and deployment.
The move may escalate existing tension with OpenAI, especially amid delays in GPT-5 and Microsoft’s growing collaboration with competing labs like DeepSeek and Anthropic.
Why it matters:
Microsoft wants to become the default platform for AI developers and users, regardless of where the model comes from. Adding Grok to Azure would expand its influence, offer developers more choices, and reduce its reliance on OpenAI, though it risks further straining a partnership already showing signs of stress.
AMAZON

Amazon has introduced a new warehouse robot named Vulcan that uses force sensors to detect contact and handle items more delicately. The system is already processing orders in U.S. and European facilities.
The Details:
Vulcan features two arms: one for rearranging items and another with a camera and suction cup for picking products.
It uses touch and force feedback to identify when it makes contact with objects, improving handling precision.
Trained on physical interaction data, Vulcan can pick around 75 percent of Amazon’s product inventory.
The robot has fulfilled over 500,000 orders in pilot programs across Spokane, Washington, and Hamburg, Germany.
Amazon says Vulcan continuously learns and improves its performance over time through self-adjustment.

Vulcan is part of Amazon’s broader strategy to scale robotics within its global warehouse network. While concerns persist over job displacement, Amazon maintains that Vulcan is designed to enhance workplace safety and efficiency, not eliminate human roles. OPENAI
OpenAI has launched a new initiative called “OpenAI for Countries” to partner with governments on building local AI infrastructure. This move is designed to expand its global reach while promoting democratic values in AI development.

The program will help governments develop data centers and customize ChatGPT for local languages and regional needs.
OpenAI plans to start with 10 pilot countries, though it has not yet revealed which ones.
Funding will come from a mix of OpenAI and government partners in each participating country.
