Meta has unveiled its Llama 3 series, featuring two new large language models, Llama 3 8B and Llama 3 70B. These models demonstrate significant advancements over previous iterations and competitors, positioning Meta at the forefront of generative AI technology.

  • Both new Llama 3 models outshine their competitors, such as Google's Gemma 7B and Anthropic's Claude 3 Sonnet, highlighting their advanced capabilities in handling intricate AI tasks.

  • These models have been trained on a dataset that's seven times larger than their predecessor, Llama 2, which includes 15 trillion tokens and four times more code.

  • Meta plans to release an even more robust model with over 400 billion parameters in the coming months, aiming to rival or exceed the performance of OpenAI's GPT-4.

With these developments, Llama 3 is set to dramatically enhance Meta's AI offerings, significantly expanding the reach and effectiveness of cutting-edge AI across its extensive global platform network.

Microsoft has introduced VASA-1, a groundbreaking AI neural network capable of animating static images into realistic talking videos.

The Details:

  • This innovative technology can transform a single photograph and accompanying audio into dynamic video portrayals that mimic human emotions and movements with high precision.

  • VASA-1 can animate still images to sync with audio files, effectively turning photos into speaking subjects with adjustable emotional expressions and gaze directions.

  • The system supports images up to 512x512 pixels and can produce videos at 45 frames per second on high-end PCs like those equipped with NVIDIA RTX 4090.

  • Due to potential misuse concerns, such as creating deepfakes or fraudulent content, Microsoft has opted not to release VASA-1 publicly until effective safeguards are established.

VASA-1 was trained using the VoxCeleb2 Dataset, involving over a million spoken samples from YouTube, demonstrating versatility as it can also animate artistic images, such as a rendition of the Mona Lisa speaking [Exmaples]
