Mark Zuckerberg just restructured Meta’s AI division under a bold new banner: Meta Superintelligence Labs (MSL), with a moonshot goal to build AI systems that match or surpass human intelligence.
The Details:
MSL will be led by former Scale AI CEO Alexandr Wang as Chief AI Officer. Nat Friedman (ex-GitHub) joins him to lead applied AI efforts.
Zuckerberg said this marks a “new era for humanity” and committed Meta to the long-term race to AI superintelligence.
Meta is consolidating FAIR, LLM teams, and product AI teams into MSL, with plans for a new lab focused on next-gen model development.
The company will invest “hundreds of billions” in AI infrastructure and talent, aiming to stay ahead of rivals like OpenAI and Google.
Meta recently hired top researchers from OpenAI, Anthropic, and DeepMind, including Jack Rae, Pei Sun, Jiahui Yu, Shengjia Zhao, and Joel Pobar.

Developers can now assign tasks like bug fixes or feature creation using natural language in the web app
