AMAZON

Amazon is exploring the adoption of Cursor, a fast-growing AI coding assistant built by Anysphere, after a surge in internal interest. Developers across the company are rallying behind the tool, favoring it over Amazon’s own in-house solutions.
The Details:
Over 1,500 Amazon employees have joined a Slack group pushing for Cursor, citing better speed and usability than Amazon’s tools.
Cursor has gained wide industry traction, now valued at $9 billion with clients like Stripe, Instacart, and Shopify.
Despite building in-house tools like Q, Cedric, and the upcoming Kiro, Amazon’s developers strongly prefer Cursor in internal polls.
Amazon’s HR team is in talks with Anysphere, evaluating Cursor for company-wide use while reviewing its compliance with security policies.
CEO Andy Jassy recently mentioned Cursor during an earnings call, calling it part of the “explosion of coding agents.”
Why it matters:
This could mark a major shift in Amazon’s AI approach. Instead of defaulting to internal tools, the company may prioritize what developers actually use and love. Adopting Cursor would signal a more flexible, productivity-first mindset, and reinforce the rise of external AI agents in big tech workflows.
META

Meta is turning to nuclear power to fuel its growing AI infrastructure, signing a long-term deal to keep one of Illinois’ nuclear plants running in support of its data centers.
The Details:
Meta has signed a 20-year agreement with Constellation Energy to draw power from the Clinton Clean Energy Center starting in 2027.
The nuclear plant will supply reliable electricity to Meta’s Illinois-based data centers as AI energy demands surge.
Meta cited the need for consistent and firm power as it scales its generative AI efforts across products like Meta AI.
Just a day before the energy deal, Meta revealed plans to automate ad creation and buying using AI tools.
Other tech giants including Amazon, Google, and Microsoft have also announced nuclear partnerships to support AI growth.
Why it matters:
As AI systems become more power-hungry, big tech is locking in long-term energy sources that are stable and carbon-free. Meta’s move highlights how nuclear energy is reemerging as a key player in powering the next generation of AI tools and infrastructure.

AI & TECH NEWS
Google’s new Edge Gallery app lets Android users run AI models offline, including Gemma 3 and Qwen 2.5. No internet needed—just download models (500MB–4GB) and start chatting or analyzing images. Hugging Face login required. iOS version coming soon.
Opera just revealed Neon, a new AI-powered browser that goes beyond search. It has full contextual awareness and can perform tasks for you—like researching, building, or designing—based on what you’re doing online. Think of it as a browser that acts.
Perplexity just rolled out Labs, a powerful workspace for Pro users ($20/month) that creates full reports, dashboards, code, and even interactive apps—within minutes. It’s live on web and mobile, and comes as the company pushes beyond AI search into full-stack productivity with tools like the Comet browser and a recent social platform acquisition.
Meta’s Ray-Ban smart glasses now auto-record voice commands by default, with no way to fully disable it—only delete or turn off voice control. The change helps train Meta’s AI, but raises privacy concerns as the AI-powered mic stays live unless fully shut off.
Google’s Gemini will now auto-summarize long emails right in your inbox—no clicks needed. It updates summaries as threads evolve, helping users stay on top of cluttered conversations. But accuracy concerns remain, as past AI summaries haven’t always been reliable.
