HONOR

Honor has officially launched its Robot Phone in China, turning its unusual concept into a real flagship smartphone with a motorized camera arm, AI-powered subject tracking, and professional imaging technology from ARRI.

🔍 The Details

  • The headline feature is a 200MP main camera mounted on a motorized 4DoF titanium gimbal, which unfolds from the phone and can automatically pan, tilt, rotate, and track subjects.

  • Honor partnered with ARRI to bring technologies including ARRI Image Science, LogC3, Wide Gamut 3, and ARRI Looks to its mobile imaging pipeline.

  • The camera system includes a 200MP main sensor, 200MP periscope telephoto with 2.7x optical zoom, and 50MP ultrawide, powered by Honor’s dedicated H1 imaging chip.

  • Under the hood, it packs Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, a 6.3-inch 120Hz LTPO OLED display, up to 16GB RAM and 1TB storage, plus a 7,060mAh battery with 120W wired and 50W wireless charging.

  • The Robot Phone starts at RMB 9,999 for 12GB+512GB and RMB 12,999 for 16GB+1TB, with sales beginning August 18 in China. No global release has been announced yet.

📌 Why It Matters

Honor is blending smartphone hardware, AI, and physical robotics in a way we haven’t really seen in a commercial phone before. The moving camera can actively follow people and compose shots on its own, giving us an early look at how phones could evolve beyond fixed cameras and touchscreens.

FIREFOX

Mozilla is expanding Firefox Smart Window, its opt-in AI browsing mode that brings an assistant directly into the browser while giving users control over which AI models and features they want enabled.

🔍 The Details

  • Smart Window can understand the webpages you have open, answer questions about them, summarize information, and pull fresh web results with source links.

  • Firefox adds natural-language history search, letting users find previously visited pages by describing what they remember instead of knowing the exact title or URL.

  • AI can automatically group related tabs, identify duplicates, and help users return to previous research sessions without manually organizing dozens of pages.

  • Users can choose between AI providers including OpenAI, Google, and Alibaba, with support for local models as Mozilla avoids locking Firefox into a single AI ecosystem.

  • Smart Window remains opt-in and in beta, while Firefox's AI Controls let users manage individual features or disable generative AI entirely.

📌 Why It Matters

Mozilla is taking a different route into the AI browser race. Instead of forcing one assistant into Firefox, it's building AI around model choice, privacy, and an off switch, while still adding the context-aware features becoming central to next-generation browsers.

NVIDIA

Nvidia is providing up to $105 billion in financial guarantees for OpenAI’s enormous new AI data center campus in Ohio, while also becoming the exclusive supplier of computing hardware for the project.

🔍 The Details

  • OpenAI has agreed to lease up to 8 gigawatts of computing capacity at the PORTS-Pike Technology Campus in Pike County for 20 years.

  • Nvidia will guarantee portions of OpenAI’s lease and power payments, rather than simply handing over $105 billion in cash, helping SB Energy secure financing for the project.

  • The first 800 megawatts are expected online in 2028, with an initial 4.25 GW planned and an option to expand by another 3.75 GW.

  • Nvidia will be the exclusive AI compute supplier for the campus and is separately investing $1.5 billion in SB Energy, the SoftBank-owned developer building and operating the site.

  • At full scale, the project could deploy roughly 1.5 million Nvidia GPUs, while SB Energy plans major new power generation and grid infrastructure to support the enormous electricity demand.

📌 Why It Matters

Nvidia is evolving from simply selling AI chips to helping finance the infrastructure that buys them. The Ohio project shows just how enormous the next phase of the AI buildout is becoming, with chips, energy, data centers, and financing increasingly tied together.
