Anthropic says Claude has autonomously identified a previously uncharacterized enzyme system with DNA patterns reminiscent of CRISPR, marking the first discovery from its new life sciences research lab.
🔍 The Details:
Around 950 Claude agents spent 21 hours analyzing DNA data, consuming 210 million tokens while operating with only high-level direction from Anthropic scientists.
The agents collected more than 200,000 reverse transcriptases (RTs), identified 3,500 candidate systems, and narrowed them down to 20 of the most promising candidates.
Claude discovered a system Anthropic calls array-associated reverse transcriptases (ART), found mainly in bacteriophages and composed of an RT, a neighboring partner gene, and an array of evenly spaced DNA repeats.
The repeat structure resembles CRISPR arrays, and early lab experiments found that ART's array produces distinct short RNAs. However, Anthropic says ART's actual biological function is still unknown, and it has not been shown to perform gene editing.
Claude handled the database search, anomaly detection, literature review, and candidate analysis, while human scientists performed the physical laboratory experiments at Anthropic's new Bay Area biology lab.

Anthropic and OpenAI launched new models within hours of each other, setting up a fresh battle between Claude Opus 5.5, GPT-6 Sol, and GPT-6 Luna across intelligence, coding, and cost.

Claude Opus 5.5 is Anthropic’s strongest new Opus model, reaching roughly Fable 5.1-level performance on most work while costing 40% less to run than Opus 5.
Opus 5.5 is priced at $4 per million input tokens and $20 per million output tokens.
GPT-6 Sol brings many of GPT-6 Astra’s improvements to a cheaper everyday model, priced at $2 input and $10 output per million tokens.
GPT-6 Luna is built for speed and scale at just $0.10 input and $0.50 output, making it dramatically cheaper for high-volume workloads.
Independent early testing puts Opus 5.5 ahead on overall capability at its highest settings, while Sol offers much of the performance at a significantly lower price.
Luna targets a different use case entirely: fast, inexpensive tasks where running millions of requests matters more than maximum reasoning power.

Meta used Connect 2026 to make one thing clear: Muse is becoming the center of its consumer AI strategy, expanding from an app into smart glasses, computers, shopping, and dedicated hardware.
🔍 The Details
Zuckerberg says Meta wants Muse to eventually become a personal superintelligence used by billions of people.
Muse is coming to Meta AI glasses, letting users assign tasks by voice while the agent keeps working in the background.
On Mac, Muse will be able to control apps and complete tasks across the desktop, even after the user walks away.
Meta is giving Muse its own email address, so users can forward messages or add the agent directly to email threads.
New integrations include Shopify, Stripe, PayPal, Walmart, Expedia, Notion, GitHub, and more, giving Muse more ways to shop, pay, research, and work.
Meta also revealed Muse Charm, a pocket-sized AI device with voice, a screen, and Muse’s digital avatar built directly into it.
Muse has already crossed millions of downloads within weeks of launch, giving Meta early momentum in the consumer agent race.
