Amazon is making another massive infrastructure bet, announcing plans to invest at least $20 billion in Pennsylvania to expand its data center capacity and support rising AI demands.
The Details:
The $20 billion investment will fund new data center campuses in Salem Township and Falls Township, creating 1,250 high-skilled jobs.
Amazon says the project will also support thousands of indirect jobs across its AWS supply chain in the region.
This announcement follows similar investments including $10 billion in North Carolina and $5 billion in Taiwan, all focused on AI infrastructure.
The company spent $25 billion in capital expenditures during Q1 alone and plans to maintain that pace throughout the year.
Amazon has not confirmed whether the Pennsylvania investment is part of its existing capital budget or provided a specific timeline.
Why it matters:
Amazon is rapidly building out its global infrastructure to meet the growing power needs of generative AI. With Pennsylvania added to its list of high-investment regions, the company is doubling down on staying competitive in the global AI and cloud race.
OPENAI

Barbie-maker Mattel is teaming up with OpenAI to bring artificial intelligence into toys and games, with its first AI-powered product expected to debut later this year.
The Details:
Mattel plans to create age-appropriate AI play experiences focused on innovation, privacy, and safety.
The partnership comes as toy makers face weak demand and consumer caution amid shifting U.S. trade policy.
OpenAI’s tools, including ChatGPT Enterprise, will also be used internally to boost creativity and streamline Mattel’s product development.
Brad Lightcap, OpenAI’s COO, said the collaboration offers Mattel access to cutting-edge AI tools for large-scale transformation.
As toy sales soften, Mattel has leaned on media content like Barbie and Hot Wheels films, TV shows, and mobile games to drive growth.ools, AI style tweaks, and a growing library of fonts, transitions, and music.
Why it matters:
This move marks a new frontier for AI in consumer products, blending machine learning with interactive play. As Mattel looks to stay relevant in a shifting market, AI-powered toys could redefine how kids engage with iconic brands like Barbie and Hot Wheels while also giving the company a tech-driven edge.

Meta’s Ray-Ban smart glasses now auto-record voice commands by default, with no way to fully disable it—only delete or turn off voice control. The change helps train Meta’s AI, but raises privacy concerns as the AI-powered mic stays live unless fully shut off.
