What investment is rudimentary for billionaires but ‘revolutionary’ for 70,571+ investors entering 2026?

Imagine this. You open your phone to an alert. It says, “you spent $236,000,000 more this month than you did last month.”

If you were the top bidder at Sotheby’s fall auctions, it could be reality.

Sounds crazy, right? But when the ultra-wealthy spend staggering amounts on blue-chip art, it’s not just for decoration.

The scarcity of these treasured artworks has helped drive their prices, in exceptional cases, to thin-air heights, without moving in lockstep with other asset classes.

The contemporary and post war segments have even outpaced the S&P 500 overall since 1995.*

Now, over 70,000 people have invested $1.2 billion+ across 500 iconic artworks featuring Banksy, Basquiat, Picasso, and more.

How? You don’t need Medici money to invest in multimillion dollar artworks with Masterworks.

Thousands of members have gotten annualized net returns like 14.6%, 17.6%, and 17.8% from 26 sales to date.

LATEST AI NEWS

OPENAI

OpenAI is rolling out a new update that lets Android users control how long ChatGPT “thinks” before responding, bringing a key desktop feature to mobile.

The Details:

  • Android users can now choose between Standard Thinking and Extended Thinking

  • Extended Thinking gives the model more time to reason through complex or multi-step tasks

  • Previously, thinking time on Android was capped automatically to save compute

  • On desktop, OpenAI is also adding task-based formatting blocks, like a mini editor for emails

  • The new controls are exclusive to ChatGPT Plus subscribers, not available on ChatGPT Go

  • Features are rolling out gradually and may not appear for all users at once

Why it matters:

This puts more control in users’ hands. Being able to trade speed for deeper reasoning makes ChatGPT more useful for serious work on mobile, while OpenAI continues to segment premium features around compute-heavy tasks.

OpenAI is hiring a new Head of Preparedness to lead research into emerging AI risks, spanning cybersecurity, mental health, and frontier model capabilities.

The Details:

  • The role focuses on identifying and preparing for severe AI-related risks before they scale

  • Sam Altman said models are already creating real challenges in areas like cybersecurity and mental health

  • The job will execute OpenAI’s Preparedness Framework for tracking high-risk frontier capabilities

  • Compensation is listed at $555,000 plus equity

  • The preparedness team was formed in 2023 to study risks from phishing to catastrophic scenarios

  • OpenAI recently updated its framework, allowing safety requirements to shift if rivals release high-risk models without similar protections

Why it matters:

AI risks are no longer theoretical. From cybersecurity exploits to mental health impacts, OpenAI is signaling that safety now requires senior leadership, real authority, and constant adaptation as models grow more powerful and competitive pressure increases.

LEMON SLICE

Lemon Slice has raised $10.5M in seed funding to bring real-time video avatars into AI agents, adding a visual layer to chats that have so far been mostly text-based.

The Details:

  • The round was backed by Y Combinator, Matrix Partners, Dropbox CTO Arash Ferdowsi, Twitch CEO Emmett Shear, and The Chainsmokers

  • Lemon Slice-2 is a 20B-parameter diffusion model that creates avatars from a single image

  • The model runs on one GPU and can livestream video at 20 FPS.

  • Avatars can plug into knowledge bases and act as tutors, support agents, or customer reps

  • The tech is offered via API and a one-line embeddable widget.

  • Voices are generated using ElevenLabs

  • The startup supports both human and non-human avatars, aiming to avoid the uncanny valley

Why it matters:

AI agents are everywhere, but they still feel flat. Lemon Slice is betting that interactive video avatars are the next interface shift. If it works, this could change how people learn, shop, and get support online, moving AI from chat boxes to face-to-face experiences.
