LATEST AI NEWS

APPLE & GOOGLE

Apple has officially partnered with Google to power future AI features, confirming that Google’s Gemini models will underpin parts of Apple’s next-generation AI, including Siri.

The Details:

  • Apple selected Google’s Gemini models and cloud tech as the foundation for future Apple Foundation Models

  • The deal is reportedly worth around $1B per year, though financial terms were not confirmed

  • The partnership is non-exclusive, and Apple also evaluated OpenAI and Anthropic

  • Apple will continue its privacy-first approach, with much AI processing done on-device or via controlled infrastructure

  • The agreement comes as Apple prepares a long-delayed, more personalized Siri upgrade expected later this year

Why it matters:

This is a major shift for Apple. By leaning on Google’s AI, Apple prioritizes performance and speed over full vertical control. It also signals how hard it is even for Apple to keep up in frontier AI alone, while reopening sensitive questions around competition and antitrust given Google’s deep role inside the Apple ecosystem.

ANTHROPIC

Anthropic has announced Claude for Healthcare, a new set of AI tools for providers, payers, and patients, just days after OpenAI revealed ChatGPT Health.

The Details:

  • Claude for Healthcare lets users securely connect health data from phones, wearables, and platforms, without using it for model training

  • Anthropic is targeting enterprise healthcare workflows, not just patient chats, with tools for providers and insurers

  • Claude introduces “connectors” to trusted medical databases like CMS, ICD-10, PubMed, and provider registries

  • The system can automate tasks like prior authorization reviews, reducing paperwork for clinicians

  • Anthropic says the goal is to cut administrative burden while keeping doctors focused on patient care

Why it matters:

Healthcare is becoming AI’s next major battleground. While ChatGPT Health leans toward patient-facing guidance, Anthropic is positioning Claude as a backend healthcare agent, automating research and documentation. If it works reliably, AI could save clinicians time without replacing medical judgment.

AMAZON

Amazon is quietly testing a different kind of AI assistant with Bee, a wearable designed to record, summarize, and turn everyday conversations into actionable memory.

The Details:

  • Bee records conversations on demand and breaks them into color-coded, summarized sections instead of raw transcripts

  • Audio is discarded after transcription, limiting professional use cases that require playback or verification

  • The companion app can link conversations to tasks using Google services, like suggesting LinkedIn follow-ups or research

  • Bee stores daily memories, learns personal “facts,” and surfaces insights over time as it adapts to the user

  • Recording is opt-in with a visible green light, but the social norms around AI listening devices remain unsettled

Why it matters:

Bee isn’t built for meetings. It’s testing whether people want AI to quietly live alongside them, remembering conversations and nudging actions throughout the day. If consumers accept it, wearables could shift from fitness tracking to memory and context tracking. If not, Bee may become a cautionary tale about how far people are willing to let AI listen.
