LATEST AI NEWS
ANTHROPIC Vs PENTAGON
Anthropic has sued the Trump administration after the Pentagon labeled the company a “supply chain risk” and effectively banned its AI from defense contracts.
The Details:
The Pentagon officially designated Anthropic a supply chain risk, a label usually reserved for foreign adversaries.
Defense contractors must now certify they are not using Anthropic’s Claude models in Pentagon work.
Anthropic says the move is unlawful and has already led to federal contracts being canceled.
The company warns the decision could threaten hundreds of millions in revenue and potentially billions in 2026.
The dispute stems from negotiations where Anthropic refused unrestricted military use of its models.
Why it matters:
This is one of the biggest clashes yet between AI labs and governments over military use of AI. The outcome could shape how AI companies work with defense agencies and set a precedent for AI regulation, national security policy, and corporate autonomy.
AMAZON & PERPLEXITY
The battle over AI agents and online shopping is escalating. Amazon has secured a court order stopping Perplexity’s AI shopping assistant from accessing its marketplace.
The Details:
A U.S. federal judge ordered Perplexity to block its AI shopping agent from interacting with Amazon’s platform.
Amazon sued the startup, claiming the tool accessed accounts and marketplace systems without authorization.
The court ruled Amazon presented strong evidence of unauthorized access to password-protected services.
Perplexity must stop the activity and delete any Amazon-related data collected through the assistant.
The decision could still face an appeal as the legal fight between the companies continues.
Why it matters:
AI agents that shop or perform tasks online are becoming a major new battleground. If platforms like Amazon can block these tools, it could limit how autonomous AI assistants interact with the web and reshape the future of AI-powered commerce.
