Alibaba has unveiled Qwen3, its newest family of AI models ranging from 0.6B to 235B parameters. The models are now live on Hugging Face and GitHub, adding major pressure on U.S. labs to keep up with China’s rapidly advancing open-weight AI.

The Details:

Qwen3 includes 8 models — 2 MoE and 6 dense — supporting 119 languages and trained on 36T+ tokens.
The flagship 235B model beats OpenAI’s o3-mini and Google’s Gemini 2.5 Pro on coding and math benchmarks like Codeforces and AIME.
Alibaba’s models feature hybrid reasoning modes, letting users balance speed vs. “thinking” depth with customizable compute budgets.
Some Qwen3 models use Mixture-of-Experts architecture, routing tasks to specialized sub-models for better efficiency.
The largest model isn’t open yet, but the top public model Qwen3-32B outperforms OpenAI’s o1 on tests like LiveCodeBench.

⚠️ OpenAI AI Chat Bug Sparks Safety Concerns

A serious bug in OpenAI’s ChatGPT allowed accounts registered to minors to generate explicit erotic content, TechCrunch revealed. The company has confirmed the issue and is “actively deploying a fix” to tighten guardrails.

The Details:

TechCrunch created accounts with ages 13–17 and found ChatGPT’s GPT-4o model would often generate sexual stories and role-play on request.
In some cases, the chatbot even asked minors for specific kinks or to guide more graphic scenarios.
OpenAI said this violated its policies, which restrict explicit content for under-18 users and allow it only in narrow contexts like scientific or historical topics.
The company acknowledged a bug was to blame and reiterated that protecting younger users is a top priority.
Despite requiring parental consent for users aged 13–18, OpenAI has no mechanism to verify it during sign-up.
